The Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups deployed educational activities associated with the exhibition “Weaving, embroidery, and dyeing: from traditional to contemporary” from 15th – 18th March 2013. The exhibition attracted over 30,000 visitors. |
Apart from viewing the exhibition based on concept of period without clothing, incunabula of clothing and age of industrial textile, visitors could directly experience activities such as how to make a shirt of bark, reel silk, join thread, etc. These activities were conducted at both permanent and open-air exhibition spaces and guided by MCVE’s educators as well as volunteer students coming from the Faculty of Literature and Social Study, Thai Nguyen College of Science.
These educational activities helped visitors to understand about textiles of Vietnam’s ethnic groups; at the same time raise their awareness of preservation and promotion of traditional textile among ASEAN community in order to find a common target, new direction for sustainable development.
