On 16th March evening, at Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups (MCVE), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam in association with the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen Province conducted the opening ceremony of the 4th ASEAN Traditional Textile Symposium based on theme: “Traditions, Innovations, Interactions: Paving Creative Path for Traditional Textiles of Southeast Asia”. |
Attending at the ceremony were Mrs. Dang Thi Bich Lien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports & Tourism, Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Phach, member of the Central Party, Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee Secretary; Mr. Duong Ngoc Long, Deputy Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the provincial People’s committee; Ma Thi Nguyet, member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee; Mr. Makarim Wibisono, Executive Director of ASEAN Foundation; Mrs. Mariah Waworuntu, chairwoman of ASEAN Traditional Textile Arts Community; representatives of leaders of ASEAN countries and dialogue partners; ambassadors; representatives of leaders of provinces of Thái Nguyên, Hà Nội, Hà Giang, Cao Bằng, Hòa Bình, Sơn La, Ðác Lắc, Ninh Thuận, An Giang, etc.
Giving speech at the ceremony, Mrs. Dang Thi Bich Lien and Mr. Duong Ngoc Long expressed their happiness to welcome delegations and all participants. They emphasized this was a good opportunity for conservation, promotion of textile values, dying that contribute to preserve typical features of culture of each nation as well as speed up national and international integration among ASEAN countries. The symposium was held to introduce, broadcast and widen opportunities of cultural exchange with people coming from other provinces and international friends. This was also a platform for museums and textiles centers to widen their networks. Especially, 95 traditional and temporary costumes of ASEAN textiles and dialogue partners were performed that caused strong impression to audience. |
