Free tickets for visitors on the occasion of the International Museum Day on May 18th, 2014.

Since 18th, May  1977, International Council of Museums (ICOM) selected it to be the International Museum Day annually, the Day of museum community in the world by The theme of 2014 proposed by ICOM is “Museum collection to create connection” to remind the role of conservation and connecting the present to the past through museum collections in creating links for visitors and cultures around the world.

Responding to that spirit, the Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam’s ethnic groups opens for free for visitors on May 18th, 2014. The purpose of the program is to give all domestic tourists as well as foreigners who are living and working in Vietnam an opportunity to find out Vietnam culture and history.

The program includes many new activities, such as: thematic exhibition ” Vietnamese Women – past and now”; “Dien Bien Phu – 60 years of an epic.” Educational and  experience programs “Being soldiers in Dien Bien in past” with animations: Piercing mountains, digging tunnels, bridging over streams; labours; doctors; pulling artilleries over moutain passes, transporting goods, attacking and occupying important positions, putting the flag on the roof of the tunnel of  Dien Bien Phu group. Tourists will join with dances of “Xòe”, “Sạp”, gongs and “Khua loong” of the Thai ethnic group in the North West in order to  celebrate the victory.

Experience programs with traditional crafts, folk games such as: making Dong Ho folk paintings; drawing wax patterns; Walking on stilts; Jumping with bags; pulling; “Ô ăn quan” game… are hold for serving tourists on 18th, May.
